What You’ll Do

As an Elixir Developer at Madwell, you’ll be working as part of an integrated team to shorten the runway between smart, interesting brands and beautiful creative that can work in any medium. Reporting directly to our VP, Technology, you’ll act as a lead developer building dashboards for ad reporting and other business kpis and other applications. You will make pivotal decisions about backend systems, such as authentication, search relevance, personalization, and API design.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working in a creative team setting to ideate and develop strong creative ideas including planning, designing, and ultimately building our digital platforms
  • Mentoring others, both on the development team, and cross-disciplinary peers, on best practice for Elixir development and large dataset management.
  • Working in Agile and Jira to optimize how our teams work
  • Creating frequent pull requests to gain insight from other team members as well as communicate deliverables by showing what is complete.
  • Helping translate client feedback into clear next steps, often with Accounts and/or Production
  • Communicating effectively, both internally and with producers/AMs/designers; to update progress, handle conflict resolution, and keep everyone updated
  • 85% of responsibilities involve contributing directly to the codebase
 

Our Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of professional experience with software development
  • BA/BS degree or higher, preferably in CS or a related field
  • Able to work with AWS and Linux server administration to set up and deploy new sites
  • Able to create semantically correct and accessible HTML
  • Strong proficiency in Elixir
  • Expertise in CSS and tailwind with good judgment for what can be done in CSS
  • Complete understanding of git branching, merging and rebasing
  • Strong proficiency with large datasets in databases such as Postgres, Big Query and other cloud databases.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills to share your ideas with the team and our clients

Our Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with React or PHP a plus
  • Familiarity with game engines and environments such as Unity or Unreal Engine

Salary range: $130,000 - $200,000

* This is a hybrid role based out of our NYC office. You must be located within commuting distance of Brooklyn, NY to be considered for this role. You will be required to be in the office 3 days a week. *
