New Business Director

Who You Are

You’re a strategic, engaging, driven and outgoing business development guru. You lead business development efforts — from crafting a strategy, generating leads and having qualifying conversations to developing capabilities and proposals, pricing initial engagements and transitioning wins to the Account Management team. You’re a big picture thinker who will bring the agency’s unique capabilities and connections to life for potential clients. You’re ready to support the CEO and CCO on new business opportunities, and possess a high degree of polish, preparedness, and responsiveness. You’re clued into the industry and connected to its people and happenings. You’re the New Business Director we’ve been looking for, and we want to meet you. 

What You’ll Do

As the Director, New Business you’ll lead our new business process from beginning to end. You’ll audit our agency story, capabilities, and client roster in order to develop a strategic approach to growth. You’ll be the external face of the agency, able to speak to our many capabilities and probe on what potential clients really want and need. When the time is right, you’ll bring our founders into the selling process. This role is based in our Brooklyn, New York office, but will remain remote until December 2021.

Specifically, you’ll be:

  • Working with leadership to report on opportunities and resources required to make this function highly successful, and reporting to leadership weekly
  • Creating and overseeing the execution of an agency communication strategy, which could include social channels, PR efforts, promotion of key projects, industry event participation, and review of the website from a new business perspective 
  • Auditing agency positioning, capabilities, proposal documents, etc. and refreshing as needed to ensure that they reflect the unique power and value of the agency
  • Crafting a new business strategy in collaboration with our leadership team, identifying key opportunities and/or industries to target
  • Enacting your new business strategy with new business practices and processes that make us better, more efficient and more responsive
  • Proactively seeking out and tracking leads and opportunities, leveraging your and the agency’s network, and maintaining an updated prospecting list for key categories, companies and individuals of interest
  • Qualifying potential opportunities, leading early stage conversations with potential new clients to understanding their business needs and objectives to ensure future conversations and proposals align 
  • Developing, writing and executing creative and informative RFI/RFP responses that highlight our agency capabilities and USP
  • Maintaining an industry presence, attending relevant conferences and advising on leadership participation in alignment with overall new business strategic plan
  • Leading and collaborating with Account, Strategy, Production and Creative team leads on pitches, ensuring that key business goals and learnings from outreach conversations are captured and communicated

  • Experience delivering work that focuses on solving business problems
  • Understanding of industry trends and the constantly shifting business and cultural landscape
  • Clear communicator with strong writing skills 
  • Proactive, energetic leader who can motivate a team and is passionate about the work, but doesn't hesitate to probe, question, and hold potential clients accountable

Where You’ve Been

  • A 6+ year track record of driving growth inside a top tier creative, technology or design organization
