MEDIA PLANNING SUPERVISOR

You’re curious, a natural collaborator, you geek out on data deep dives, and are passionate about the modern media landscape. You comfortably oversee media plans from creation through to completion. You have an act for getting both clients and creative teams excited about ways to challenge media conventions. 

What You’ll Do

At Madwell, we believe the message and medium are deeply intertwined, and as Media Planning Supervisor, you’ll be developing bespoke media plans that can spark or elevate a creative idea. You’ll serve as a strategic partner for internal and client teams alike, while bringing forward new media innovations, tools and technologies. As a Media Planning Supervisor you’ll create tactical media plans, while also overseeing the execution of your clients’ media campaigns. 
 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing unconventional insights for the full media landscape across all major platforms. These insights are brought to life through the media strategy. 
  • Clearly explaining the most complex media strategies, frameworks and ideas to client, internal and vendor teams. 
  • Becoming an invaluable resource for the larger strategy department by cultivating and maintaining relationships with media vendors, cross-disciplinary team members and clients. Mentor and guide junior staff, ensuring their professional growth.
  • Providing counsel on business objectives and audience demographics, along with developing media strategies to achieve those objectives. 
  • Leverages a variety of sources, tools and vendor relationships to create a cross-channel and impactful media plan that maximizes effectiveness.
  • Monitoring, measuring, and analyzing campaign performance against business objectives. Adjusts strategies and plans based on performance data, while leading regular reports and insights to clients.
  • Lead the execution of media plans and ensure all placements are accurate and error-free down to the letter, fact, data, and detail. Coordinate with creative teams to ensure assets are delivered on time. Troubleshoot any issues related to media placements.
  • Presenting and defending media strategies and recommendations to clients. Able to address and resolve any concerns or issues that arise.
  • Tracking and managing client budgets and spending. Provide regular financial updates and forecasts to clients and agency leadership.

 

Our Must-Haves

  • A strategic thinker who can craft effective (and unexpected) paid media strategy, and can propose and defend media spend across all channels, offline and digital, while mapping to the consumer journey. 
  • Excellent understanding of all media platforms, including their respective strengths, nuances, success metrics, and relevant demographics. 
  • A self-starter and creative problem solver, who takes initiative in bringing new media thinking and pushing the media strategy to create greater potency for the creative idea.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in audience segmentation and sizing, A/B testing, media forecasting, customer profitability analysis (lifetime value), media mix modeling, conversion attribution analysis, and ROI/ROAS measurement.
  • Able to balance a strong point of view with an ability to listen, learn and adapt.
  • A proven track record in demonstrating the abilities outlined within this job description.
  • Must be located within commuting distance of our Denver or Brooklyn office, and able to come into one of our offices twice a week on Tuesday + Thursday every week. 
  • Upholds high standards of compliance and ethics. Ensures all media activities adhere to industry standards and regulations. Provides transparency in reporting and media buys.

Where You’ve Been

  • 5-8 years of media planning experience
  • Previous experience managing direct reports
  • Experience with trends and innovations in traditional and digital media
  • Familiarity with software such as Nielsen Media Impact, Resonate, Vivix/Kantar, Google Analytics, etc.

Reporting to: Media Planning Director

Direct reports could include: Media Planner and/or Media Intern

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000
