Senior Comms Strategist

You’re a thought leader who will deliver consumer insights to inspire thoughtful creative. You’ll define communications tasks for media and message, based on client objectives, and develop the campaign go-to-market plan. You can weave a clear, complete strategic vision, locate a narrative needle in a data haystack, and you know how to help brands optimize their content over time.


What You’ll Do

As a Senior Comms Strategist at Madwell, you’ll serve as the day-to-day communications strategy lead with multiple clients. You’ll be responsible for owning the development of comms strategies and frameworks that deliver on our client’s business goals. You’ll be the client’s primary thought leader on all facets of communications, working cross-functionally with agency media partners, creative teams, producers, and account leads to ensure that media work does not live in a silo, but is fully integrated across all of the brand’s efforts. You’ll also act as the key liaison for the agency team with any client media partner, ensuring creative ideas come to life across media tactics.


Key Duties & Responsibilities ::

Communications Strategy

  • Be the team expert on media channels and user expectations who will push teams to think differently about how to leverage them.
  • Understand cross-channel communications and how best to use the right channels based on creative ideas.
  • Contribute to the creative process by inspiring creative teams with data-driven channel and consumer insights, past performance analysis, online listening and cultural trends.
  • Provide creative teams an understanding of how to connect with audiences in brand communications through the appropriate media and technology.
  • Leverage understanding of the consumer journey to comms planning by connecting media and audiences to determine the appropriate messaging.
  • Provide strategic direction in translating creative ideas into ad formats based on KPI goals and platform behaviors.

Channel Strategy

  • Be the first to know about platform or ad format changes and educate larger teams.
  • Understand channel ‘best practices’ then create hacks or new thinking with existing features.
  • Identify areas to make creative content better and know how to influence creative teams.
  • Ability to collaborate and work alongside client media agencies to ensure distribution of content (planning, targeting, publishing, optimization, etc.) aligns and compliments creative strategy.

Data + Insights

  • Resourceful and can uncover unexpected insights from a variety of sources, with an ability to craft a narrative.
  • Identify and unpack agency opportunities from ad hoc, weekly or monthly reporting.
  • Ability to work with teams to uncover testing opportunities before an idea is selected.
  • Provide campaign reporting insights and future recommendations.
  • Uncover unique and relevant audience and cultural insights.


Qualification Requirements ::

  • Expert in media channels/platforms, consumers/user behavior and comms planning with 4 to 6 years experience.
  • An insatiable appetite for learning, challenging conventions and breaking best practice.
  • Inherent ability to create hypothesis, test scenarios and understand results to push creative ideas.
  • Experience working with media planning and consumer behavior tools (MRI-Simmons, NetBase or other social listening tools).
  • We need a Comms Strategist who understands the modern media landscape, that can uncover meaningful consumer insights from traditional tools and non-traditional experiments, and can define how powerful creative ideas should go to market.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker, curious, creative, passionate and upbeat.
  • Strong organization skills, ability to multi-task & work successfully as part of a collaborative team
  • A team player with delusional positivity and an entrepreneurial spirit who can tackle any challenge.
  • Detail oriented with exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable with ambiguity but has an innate desire to always make things better.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
